India has embraced electric vehicles in recent times. Initially, there were doubts, but now consumers are embracing this new technology wholeheartedly. As a result, electric vehicle sales in the country are increasing. The growth of electric vehicles in India is largely driven by electric scooters, which are gaining popularity.
Interestingly, the electric two-wheeler market is dominated by startups rather than established players. One such startup is BattRE, which offers two models: the funky and sporty BattRE One, and the more traditional-looking BattRE LoEV. Despite their different appearances, both scooters offer similar riding dynamics and characteristics. We wanted to know more about the BattRE LoEV electric scooter, so we conducted a comprehensive ride review to discover its features and performance.
BattRE Electric LoEV: Design & Features
The BattRE LoEV electric scooter has a more traditional appearance compared to the funky and eye-catching BattRE One. It features a flat handlebar with sleek LED turn indicators integrated into it. The front apron houses a headlamp cluster along with bifurcated LED daytime running lights.
Inside, the scooter is equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster that displays various information such as distance covered, speed, and charge level. Instead of showing the battery percentage, the display uses a voltmeter. There is also storage space available for keeping small items like a water bottle, and a USB charging point is provided for charging mobile devices. The handlebar is fitted with a variety of switches on both sides.
The scooter offers a flat footboard with ample space for the rider's legs. The seats are wide and well-cushioned, although the pillion rider may feel a bit uncomfortable when riding with a backrest attached. However, the backrest can be opened to provide better seating comfort. The scooter also features sturdy footpegs and thick grab rails, enhancing the seating comfort for the pillion rider.

The BattRE LoEV electric scooter is powered by a removable 60V 28Ah lithium-ion battery pack. This battery pack has a capacity of 1.6 kWh and works in conjunction with an electric motor. The manufacturer, however, does not provide specific details regarding the maximum power and torque output of the scooter.
The scooter offers three different riding modes. In the Sport mode, the scooter can reach a top speed of 44 kmph. During our city traffic test, we found that riding in this mode provided a range of around 50 km. The other two modes offer lower speeds but offer a better range overall. Similar to other electric scooters on the market, the BattRE LoEV features regenerative braking, which helps recharge the battery when the brakes are applied.
One interesting feature of the scooter is its keyless ignition system. It comes with a key fob that allows users to start, lock, and unlock the scooter remotely. This feature adds convenience, especially in the budget segment.

During our extensive test rides of the BattRE LoEV electric scooter in various traffic conditions within and around the city, we observed its performance closely. On open stretches of smooth roads with low traffic, the scooter demonstrated impressive agility and responsiveness, making it an enjoyable riding experience.
In the Sport mode, the scooter showcased smooth and quick acceleration. It can reach a top speed of 44 kmph, which is not exceptionally high for a two-wheeler but quite noteworthy for an electric scooter.

The braking performance of the BattRE LoEV electric scooter is commendable. Unlike many other low-speed electric scooters in the Indian market that typically come equipped with drum brakes in this price range, the BattRE LoEV stands out by featuring disc brakes on both wheels. This setup enhances the precision and effectiveness of the braking system, providing riders with a reliable and responsive braking experience.

Verdict
With an ex-showroom price of Rs 59,900, the BattRE LoEV electric scooter offers a peppy and enjoyable riding experience. It is a practical and nimble option that is well-suited for regular commuting within the city. However, it's important to consider its limitations. Being a low-speed electric scooter, taking it on longer rides could be risky due to its limited range. It is best suited for shorter, everyday rides rather than extended journeys.
