TVS Zeppelin Cruiser Design Trademarked

News by Team Drivio | 24 Jun 2023

This comes in more than five years after it was first showcased.

  • The Zeppelin will be based on the Ronin’s engine itself.
  • It will boast of an inverted fork and maybe dual shocks.
  • Accompanying all that will be ergonomics and a design language of a proper cruiser.

TVS has recently made a trademark application for a new cruiser design, and leaked documents pertaining to this development have surfaced online. Enthusiasts are buzzing with speculation, wondering if this could potentially be the highly anticipated Zeppelin cruiser that TVS had initially showcased at Auto Expo 2018. Since then, there have been no significant updates on the Zeppelin, but instead, TVS introduced the Ronin last year, which shares the same platform as the upcoming cruiser.

The forthcoming cruiser is expected to be equipped with the same 225.9cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine found in the Ronin, generating 20.5PS of power and 19.93Nm of torque. However, it is likely that the engine will be fine-tuned to meet the specific requirements of a cruiser.

The Zeppelin, based on the Ronin platform, takes a traditional cruiser approach with improved ergonomics including forward-set footpegs, redesigned exhaust, and possibly a lowered seat, all of which should make it what the Ronin should always have been.

To summarize, the TVS Ronin's platform appears to be well-suited for a cruiser, although the Ronin itself represents a blend of different genres, resulting in some confusion. Nonetheless, the prospect of witnessing a cruiser, possibly the Zeppelin, based on this platform finally materializing is undoubtedly intriguing.

All in all, we expect the Zeppelin to be officially launched sometime late this year or early next year. With the Ronin’s prices beginning from Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), we think the Zeppelin will carry a solid premium over it and its prices could begin from around Rs 1.70 lakh, ex-showroom.
