The new and more affordable Chetak electric scooter that Bajaj has been reportedly working on for a while was recently spotted on test runs. In the video footage of the testing, no noticeable changes were found in the scooter’s design. However, the Pune-based company will likely replace the scooter’s current hub motor with a more affordable motor setup to curtail the costs.

New Bajaj EV (likely Base Chetak Trim) | Rs 1.15 lakh (estimated) |
In 2023, Bajaj discontinued the base trim of the Chetak EV, which was priced at Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom) earlier. At the same time, the premium trip had its price slashed from Rs 1.52 lakh to Rs 1.3 lakh, becoming one of the most affordable high-quality made-in-India electric scooters. The base trim might potentially be resurrected in the form of the new and more pocket-friendly Chetak EV, which is expected to be priced around at Rs 1.15 lakh.
