The River Indie, which was launched at Rs 1.25 lakh months ago, is currently offered only in Bengaluru, though River plans to expand its operations by 2024.

The Bengaluru-based Indian startup “River” has started the deliveries of its debut product, the Indie electric scooter, in India. Launched at Rs 1.25 lakh few months ago, the River Indie was delivered to the first batch of customers who had pre-booked the scooter, in an official event held in Bengaluru. River Indie competes in terms of pricing with the likes of Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450S, Bajaj Chetak and others.
Meanwhile, River has confirmed that it will start delivering the Indie to the second batch of customers in the next month. Currently offered for sale only in Bengaluru, the River Indie will be offered in 50 cities by 2024, with its bookings still live on River’s official website.

River Indie: Design
Compared to all the electric scooters on sale, the River Indie has a very unique design, which is a unique blend of funkiness and ruggedness. Available in three funky-looking colour options – Monsoon Blue, Spring Yellow and Summer Red, the River Indie comes with unique design highlights for a scooter, such as pannier mounts, front foot pegs and crash guards.

In terms of features, the River Indie feels new-age with several contemporary features, such as all-LED headlamps and tail lamp, a full-TFT instrument console, three riding modes – Eco, Ride and Rush, reverse parking assist and side stand cut-off. It also comes with two USB charging ports – one provided on the handlebar and the other in the illuminated 12-litre glovebox.

The electric motor powering the rear wheel of the River Indie is a 6.7kW motor, which generates 26 Nm of maximum torque and is capable of making the Indie reach a top speed of 90 kmph.
River Indie: Range & Charge Time
The IP67-rated 4kWh battery pack of the River Indie electric scooter offers a maximum range of 120 km and takes 5 hours for a 0-80% charge.
River Indie: Massive Boot Space
In addition to the standard 43-litre under-seat storage space, the functionality of the River Indie can further be improved with an optional 25-litre top box and a pannier set capable of holding 40 litres.
River Indie: Chassis
Sitting on a steel tubular dual cradle frame, the River Indie gets telescopic forks at the front and coil springs at the rear. Riding on 14-inch tyres, the Indie has a 240mm disc at the front and a 200mm disc at the rear for stopping duties, further assisted by a combined braking system.
