Royal Enfield, the iconic brand, will open up a new chapter in the field of electric bikes soon. The manufacturer will be launching its first electric motorcycle by the end of 2024, and it will use an all-new platform for this purpose. The platform is being co-developed with a Spanish company.

How is the new electric bike platform of Royal Enfield?

The company has been busy with the R&D of its new platform with its partner, a Spanish start-up named Stark Future SL. The new platform ‘L’, internally codenamed as ‘Electrik01’, will be compatible with different body styles categorized as L1A, L1B and L1C.

It is to be noted that Eicher Motors, the parent company of Royal Enfield, has taken a 10 per cent stake in Stark Future SL, and both will co-develop RE motorcycles and arrange for technical licensing.

What are the styling details and other specs of the RE Electric bike?

The bike will retain retro styling, such as a rounded headlight for which the brand is known. However, there will be EV elements all around. The bike will reportedly get a 96V system that is expected to deliver a 100-150 km range and match the prowess of the 350cc counterparts. The vehicle will sport unique chassis with two frame tubes.
