It gets yellow badging and graphics over its bodywork, while many aspects go as is.
- The famed 155cc liquid-cooled engine is unchanged.
- It’s priced at Rs 1.82 lakh, ex-showroom.
- This means the R15 V4 is on sale in a total of four colourways.
Yamaha has released a new, more expensive "Dark Knight" model of their enduringly well-liked Yamaha YZF-R15 V4. In its new colour scheme, the R15 is almost fully covered on black with a few gold accents, including the R15 and Yamaha insignia and golden alloy wheels. The R15 V4 is now offered in four colours: Red (Rs 1.81 lakh), Dark Knight (Rs 1.82 lakh), Blue (Rs 1.86 lakh), and "Intensity White" (Rs 1.86 lakh), all prices given are of ex-showroom, Delhi.
This edition's 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which produces 18.4 horsepower and 14.2 pound-feet of torque, is carried over intact from the ordinary bike's mechanical design. A USD fork and monoshock support the deltabox frame that is nestled within this tiny mill. The R15 has a dual-channel ABS system coupled with a 282mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc.
In India, the Yamaha R15 V4 competes with the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 (Rs 1.92 lakh - Rs 2.02 lakh) and KTM RC 200 (Rs 2.18 lakh), and the Hero Karizma XMR will shortly join this trio of small-capacity, fully-faired sportbikes.
Taking everything into account, the Yamaha R15 V4 is still a delightful little pocket rocket that will encourage many aspiring riders to start sport riding. Even larger riders might feel comfortable riding it. It is not only excellent for sport riding, but it is even more user-friendly for commuting.
