At Rs 85,131, the SP 125 is a paltry Rs 927 more than before, while packing a better engine, more colours and a new rear tyre.
- Its 124cc engine still makes 10.8PS and 10.9Nm.
- The drum brake variant costs Rs 85,131, while the disc brake variant will set you back by Rs 89,131.
- Honda’s ACG starter continues to be there on the bike.
Honda has launched the updated SP125, which costs Rs 85,131 for the drum variant, while the disc brake variant will set you back Rs 89,131. (both ex-showroom Delhi). Both trims are now only Rs 927 more expensive than before.
The most significant change for the SP is that the 123.94cc engine is now BS6 Phase 2-compliant, with an OBD-2 sensor that continuously monitors the bike's emission levels. The SP 125's rear tyre has been replaced with a 100-section one, which should improve ride stability. The new Matte Marvel Blue Metallic paint scheme is the final new addition to the bike.
The updates definitely make the SP 125 a more wholesome bike than it was previously. The thicker rear tyre may not provide many real-world benefits for a commuter, but it does improve the bike's visual appeal. But hey, for a price hike of Rs 927, we’re not exactly complaining about that!
The marginal premium should have little impact on your purchasing decision. These things said, the SP125 still remains one of the more premium contenders in the 125cc sporty commuter segment, competing against the likes of the TVS Raider 125, Bajaj Pulsar 125, and Hero Glamour 125.
If future OBD-2 updates for other Honda products are similarly priced, buyers shouldn't be too picky. More such updates, from other manufacturers as well, are expected in the coming days.
