Ola Resumes Bike Taxi Service In Bengaluru with its S1 Electric Scooters

Ola aims to make online ride-hailing affordable, sustainable, and accessible in smaller towns by restarting its bike taxi service.
- The brand plans to use its own S1 electric scooters for Ola Bike.
- At Rs. 25 for 5 km and Rs. 50 for 10 km, the fares are quite pocket-friendly.
- The service will be expanded to smaller towns in Karnataka that have a population of less than 1 lakh.
Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal took to the micro-blogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on September 16 to announce that the company is restarting Ola Bike in Bengaluru. The company is going all-electric this time, using its own Ola S1 scooters. Running on a battery of 2 to 4 kWh with a maximum range of 151 to 195 km, the S1 scooters are pretty energy efficient and offer a sustainable future for urban mobility.

Pointing out that ride-hailing services have been concentrated in the top 15 to 20 cities, Aggarwal stated added that Ola Bike will be expanding to a smaller town in Karnataka with a population of less than 1 lakh next week.

However, Ola is yet to obtain a license under the Karnataka Electric Bike Taxi Scheme introduced in 2021, claimed the Karnataka State Transport Authority (KTSA).
